There's a bunch of code in Deliverance that does this.
For a "true" HTTP proxy, maybe look at
http://svn.colorstudy.com/home/ianb/OLPCProxy/trunk - though I didn't get it
to work as well as I'd hoped. Windmill also includes (I think?) a true
proxy, or maybe just a rewriting proxy.
